Take your landscape photography to the next level with H&Y’s magnetic filter system
Filters are often considered to be an essential part of landscape photography, but using them can be frustrating at times. Avoiding getting your fingerprints smudged on the filter, or even scratching or smashing the fragile glass, means that setting up your shot can be more time-consuming than you’d like. However, H&Y Filters has come up with an innovative new magnetic filter system that could change everything.
H&Y dropped into The Photography Show’s Burst Mode studio to show us some of their latest products, including their range of Neutral Density filters, Neutral Density Graduated filters, filter holders and magnetic adapter strips.
H&Y has produced a series of rectangular filters that magnetically stack against each other. They’re designed to prevent any risk of light leaks and can be easily moved and adjusted to create the perfect effect for your landscape photography. Each filter has a frame that you can use to keep fingerprints off the glass.
Speaking of the glass, all of the H&Y filters are made from Corning Gorilla Glass III, which is designed to be virtually unbreakable (as you can see in the video above!). This type of Gorilla Glass has also been used on smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Motorola Moto X.
One of the most interesting aspects of H&Y’s filter system is the fact that you can use it to instantly adapt your old filters with just a few simple steps. Using magnetic adapter strips, you can convert filters from LEE Filters, NISI and more to the H&Y filter system.
